Levidi is the birthplace of the great politician Alexandros Papanastasiou. The museum has been in operation since 1976. Papanastasiou, was prime minister of Greece from 1924 until 1932. He was one of the brightest minds of the challenging 20th century, a sincere democrat and fearlessly paid the price for his ideas. In a space owned by the city of Levidi a museum that recounts the life and ideas of the political pioneer. Here lies his great library of rare volumes. His scientific writings, a large portion of his correspondence, speeches and articles that made history are now exhibited in Levidi. There are also rare personal and family photographs, moments captured from his military life and a collection of personal items: an umbrella, a jacket, and worry beads.
