According to the map, 15 km from Tripoli and 1.5 km from the village of Kapsia is the cave of Kapsia. The experts have classified it in the prestigious list of the ten most significant caves in Greece. It is located in the enclosed geological basin region of the Mantinia plateau and is connected to a complex system of natural drainage pools which characterize the water table. ?n this cave, human bones and everyday vessels have been found. The first research of the cave was done by the French archaeologist Gusteau Fuser in 1887 in his excavations of Mantinia. In 1911 there was an official announcement about this treasure cave, a milestone that marks the international interest in this hidden land and in 1974 a new section of the cave was discovered. The cave becomes a record of geological events .It has left certified traces of a large flood. At the same time from the depths of the earth, lamps and tools came to light as well as bone fragments telling the tale of survival. One of the areas in the Kapsia cave is called ‘the hall of admirers’ full of stalactites and stalagmites, water that stays still, colors and shapes.
