The Museum of Tegea is a small architectural jewel built in 1908. It was donated by the Bishop Neilos Smyrniotopoulos and the Stasinopoulos Foundation. The Archaeological Museum is among the most important rural museums as it brings together a great variety of works of the great Parian sculptor Scopas. Primarily the exhibits come from the area of Athena Alea. In the hall of the thrones are thrones and statue torsos and a copy of the great head of the goddess of health, Hygeia, as the original is housed in the National Archaeological Museum. It is worth noting that this fine example of classical sculpture is used by schools of Fine Arts worldwide as a model of harmony and beauty. There is also a bust of Asklepios, the Great Physician carved on an enormous scale, a relief of Pan, scenes of heroes and demigods, and everyday items from ancient times.
